noochi

This magnificant sculpture by Niki de Saint Phalle has been in the lobby of Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum for decades. This was my most frequently visited museum as a child. and i loved this sculpture. loved it. still do. not until today (suddenly missed it) did i realize that it is named Nana Baloon (and i for one really believe that it will carry her). in my family we always called it den store nana i bevægelse which is danish for big nana in motion.

if noochi had a lobby mascot, this would be in it.

there are more nanas by niki de saint phalle. despite the lack of accumulated emotional attachment, the ones below, located in hannover, also somehow speak to me.

i need all kinds of stuff for my noochi project. and since my pc was stolen a few months ago, getting a new one + getting it up and running has been a quite boring step 1. Now, the ab fab o has made a welcome to noochi-music mix, and i want to start distributing it to sweet noochi supporters. as the music mix is very cool, of course it needs to be presented in a cool way as well.

i consider myself media savvy, but this is a small project; i need cds (old school, but functional + you can place it casually on your coffee table for coolness), i need labels, i need sleeves. I have ordered everything and once it arrives, i need to figure out how to make fancy, cool, sweet brand value out of it.

consider this a cliff hanger for getting your first gift from noochi.

For years i have been wearing a pair of earrings looking like a set of black keys from zarah voight. no other jewellery could quite top them, and they were often commented (how clever, you always have your keys with you!, are those the keys to your heart, blah blah). When I lost one of them, it was very difficult to replace.

my outrageously beautiful and talented friend viola (definately the style icon in my aalborg circle of girlfriends, although she will deny any such thing) then gave me a very cool pair of black wings from tattydevine (tatty also makes sweet packaging - noochi wants cool packaging too) - and i felt like i had been “unlocked” and called to fly. in time i will manage to lift noochi from the ground with these wings!

My day job (I believe that is the term…) is no picnic and so the timeline for the noochi web shop is not fixed and i have no intentions of stressing myself with it. It has to be made out of love and belief, in its own time. This is why a post on earrings the powerful qualities of friendship qualifies for this blog!?

I was chatting with my former colleague Allan (developer with a huge fan club) and we were debating how your first job is like your first boyfriend (in his case girlfriend)… in the sense that all other jobs are compared to the spirit you experienced the first time you felt you were part of something great… He is currently wondering what job to take (from a nice variety of options) and we talked about working independently. Although i have decided to build up this blog, to make it cool, before promoting it, i gave him the link. And would you believe; he said to ask for help if i needed it. That is serious money in the bank! (no, allan, i AM aware that you did not offer to code a shop for me from scratch, but still… ). So listen all and be warned: if you offer your help, i may come back and ask for it! That is kind of the concept of noochi… i want to share it with anyone who cares… and I do need support for this project to materialize.

i am extremely pleased to have a blog installed on the noochi site. it has been a bit tricky and i needed help. I am deeply thankful to my new blog guru… who also enlightened me in the pure concept of blogging by answering any concern that i raised with: “blog it!”

I want my noochi blog to be completely honest and straight. I have this idea that the blog can help me to stick to my project and to come up with at least conceptual improvements, ideas and thoughts that will help refine the concept. And i very much hope others will join in, once i have something interesting to show or debate.

One concern is to write this blog in english although i am a Dane and may not be as articulate in english as in my mother tongue. Also, the blog’s potential readers could very well be Danes (since app. 90% of my friends and the people i know are Danes). I hope no one will feel reluctant to comment. I want to ensure that i don’t shut off any interesting and good people - and of course i want my shop (as well as the making of it) to be accessible to the global market. I want to place my brother’s anthology Blæk on a coffee table in San Fran, I want my friends’ paintings on the walls of cool homes in Lisbon, I want to put a cool t-shirt on some hottie in Bangladesh. And so… English it is!

For the first time in my life, I have an idea for a business that I would enjoy to build and that I really believe will carry through. It is a low risk/ max benefit business for everyone that I plan to involve. All the people I have mentioned it to have been positive and full of ideas for how to develop the concept. I have gotten around to getting www.noochi.com and www.noochi.dk and at the moment I only have ideas behind the domains. I would like to build the most brilliant of webshops. A shop that markets and sells the wonderful productions that my friends and family are behind. Although I have tons of confidence in my talented friends and family, I would also market and sell various types of niche productions of other underground - and more established - talents. I have a concept laid out in the rough - but it needs refinement of course. Everyone will gain. The talents will get a channel for distribution of their productions. The buyers will be happy that they get a unique piece with a great and authentic story behind it. I will get to be my own boss and deal only with people I like and respect. I plan to involve as many great people as I possibly can. I make my own rules to ensure no one looses.
