Sun making signs on the shooting range entrance
sun making signs on the shooting range entrance this beautiful, cold sunday in copenhagen. had smørrebrød with dad and gitte, and went to see danskjävlar (damn’ danes in swedish) on charlottenborg. i regretted that i didn’t take pictures. others did:

Nina Saunders John Koerner Olafur Eliasson

very cool installations. the sight for the sorest eyes today, still was that of the sun making signs on the shooting range entrance.

noochis older brother - in felt

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

i bought 4 items already - i am a sucker for brooches - plastic, not felt
while working my ass off, i have obviously missed out on a spectacular site… i really feel i should have known of its existence. etsy. big american site where you can buy and sell crafts. it rocks. its what i want… only complaint is that there is too wide a selection - which is not really a complaint in the time of the long tail… and especially not since there are many cool options for cross-searching. only… half of it is produced out of felt… and the quality greatly varies. while i do believe felt is an all right material, i wouldn’t base my living nor my style on it. but it took me a while to come up with such hang-up. according to danish paper berlingske, the site launched in 2005 and now has half a million registered users and app. 60.000 sellers. berlingske says “niche products has become big business”… i kind of figured that out… although i know noochi will have a cooler more exclusive product selection, i really wish etsy was noochi. no felt.

Street poster from 2002 by HuskMitNavn street poster from 2004 by huskmitnavn

street posters from 2002 and 2004 (top one says: being danish is a dangerous idea, and the other says: i can never face the problem) by huskmitnavn

i (and others - for example the highly local “news”) may have discovered a (or 2) new huskmitnavn. HuskMitNavn/ RememberMyName made a big name for himself by making thought-provoking, fun and very talented graffittis and street posters in the 90′ies. he is born the same year as me, 1975, and never shows his face to the media. i’ve been a fan for years. as huskmitnavn partly moved into the galleries (yet still sprays), i am very thankful that others so profoundly assist in brightening up the streets of copenhagen.

2 times before, i have shown my cell phone pics of street posters by what could be the same artist.. although only the last one - i think - has a signature on it, and although the eyes/ faces of the one below and my eco-friendly favorite in westend - are made in somewhat different styles. now, a third one popped up in skydebanegade. i think the signature says uw, vw, dua or ulla… i may have a preference for the latter.

lemon-colour with bird

Saturday, January 5th, 2008
Lemon-coloured with bird - by Gudrun Heyn-Johnsen... awful photo quality - needless to say. i got myself this painting named citrongul med fugl (lemon-colour with bird) by gudrun heyn-johnsen. gudrun is quite obviously a talented artist and also the wonderful mother of my precious friend viola. i have wanted one of her paintings for years, and was happy to get this particular one in a gallery on vesterbro. it grows on me already.

gudrun has agreed to sell some of her paintings through noochi once i get the engine started. whoopee!
