lemon-colour with bird

Saturday, January 5th, 2008
Lemon-coloured with bird - by Gudrun Heyn-Johnsen... awful photo quality - needless to say. i got myself this painting named citrongul med fugl (lemon-colour with bird) by gudrun heyn-johnsen. gudrun is quite obviously a talented artist and also the wonderful mother of my precious friend viola. i have wanted one of her paintings for years, and was happy to get this particular one in a gallery on vesterbro. it grows on me already.

gudrun has agreed to sell some of her paintings through noochi once i get the engine started. whoopee!tags:, ,

susanne’s moon & stars

Susanne Schomburg - Moon Susanne Schomburg - Stars

susanne has been a dear friend to me since 3rd grade. that’s almost 25 years… among many other things(!), we went to art school together for years. i vividly remember how the teachers were sucking up to her due to her talent. she comes from a home where art is measured from how well it portrays something. her parents used to comment her works with “but what is it?”… in spite of that she just kept on pouring paint all over the place and going crazy with the spatulas. with no instruction really. with no obvious inspiration for doing so.

susanne went on to educate herself and joined various art groups. now, she works with kids that do not exactly have art on their mind, although i am sure they benefit from her creativity. i have always thought that she had a huge potential and to prove it to her, i have actually managed to sell a few of her paintings in the past. my friend sanya for example bought a series of spy vs spy portrays (see below) and the ab fab o garnished his office space with 3 uncle bob’s (see below). i have asked susanne to start producing for noochi, and she did! What an awesome, awesome energy! Thank you, susanne!

I hope my next post will feature a first draft mock-up of the noochi shop - showcasing some of susanne’s pictures… and more!

hair brush by david shrigley

just saw david shrigley, artist from glasgow, on tv - what a sweet, modest guy! he makes things that are so awesome that people have tattoos made of them. sounded like he has a problem getting paid (but he might very well be totally loaded), and it isn’t easy to buy the things you can buy from him - will get back and check with him once noochi is up and running.

added nov 4: ok, ok.. so i am realizing this guy is a complete megastar… i will still contact him once i have an offer. sometimes megastars don’t mind average joes… you never know unless you give it a shot, right!?tags:,

metabunker transmissions

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I really am full of admiration! Take a look at Matthias Wivels blog - metabunker… that grew out of rackham.dk - a site that has been run by matthias and my very talented brother for years and years. I am sure that many Danish comic book nerds enthusiasts miss it a lot, as nothing quite resembles the debate forums and huge archives of interviews, reviews and know-how that were accumulated there (at least not non-commercial and in danish). If you sign up for rackham newsletters (not sure how - but get metabunker feeds, email matthias wivel or figure it out) you receive quite interesting transmissions from the metabunker concerning comic books and graphic novels - all very, very cool and inspiring. and even if you are not into this genre you will be amazed with the enthusiasm, wit and intellect that drive all these activities. This is true passion. This is true love of an art form.

Further, the most recent transmission says that if you want Blæk you better hurry. If the rumour is true, noochi will not be up and running with exclusive rights and a special bargain on Blæk (Danish for ink) before this very fantastic publication that collects the best from the Danish comic book scene (broadly defined) is sold out. You can still buy it online from Fantask. I highly recommend it (also for people who don’t read danish - there are hardly any words… in one of my favorite contributions by simon bukhave there are no words at all). Blæk - anthology of danish comics and related visual art

it all makes a difference

Monday, October 8th, 2007
i met lars, my previous boss, for coffee the other day. Besides being an awesome team leader (a complete role model in this area), he makes paintings (and many other things for that matter) - and i have often thought of him as part of the very lovely talent cloud that surrounds me. translation service - Elsk means love in danish

his response to my ideas concerning noochi was very positive and insightful. Before finishing the latte he even agreed to sell his paintings through noochi. The answer: “why not?” is the one i am hoping for from all the talents noochi puts a zoom on.

the dark image says it all makes a difference. And my happiness in agreeing to this point is great. I feel very fortunate, privileged and almost blessed that I cling on to so many very good, talented, generous people. all really does make a difference. and who knows? - noochi might turn lars into a millionaire billionaire in a not too far future. it all makes a difference - click to check
