free love at trendwatching

my mishaps in spreading old news (like below) made me check in on some of my favorite web sites. springwise is currently featuring free love in manila, a deli chain that gives away coupons for free sweets under the name my secret santa. very clever idea. a lot more people will email coupons than cash them in. and how much does it cost to mass produce an almond biscotti? springwise and now me and quite likely a ton of other online marketing cookie enthusiasts will immediately spread the word and remunerate with some free link love! very low cost per contact. and the contact is worth more because its qualified by friends or peers. my secret santa is also effective because the sender (delifrance - delightfully different) so tactfully plays it down. (almost) leaves it up to springwise and the rest of us to throw in the name. trendwatching has more on free love. that’s also where the pic above is from.

the word free really is redundant in connection with love… but in this f”#ยค%& up world, love is so easily reduced to a consumer good that is likely to cost you… we are downgrading our vocab in a dangerous area. just look at the word friends in connection with facebook… even the word connection has become misleading. cookie karma would have been a more descriptive headline at both trendwatching and springwise. i’m on deep water. so goodbye.tags:, , ,

reverse graffiti

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

this is hip, baby (or it was in 2003, but now i am realizing it too)! reverse graffiti. all you need is a dirty facade and some eco-friendly cleaning agents… and you can bring nature (or whatever) back into the streets. it is not even against the law (although the british authorities have had their doubts).

reverse graffitti - actually cleaning away dirt - in san francisco

skulls are also 'green'

found on inhabitat through my best web buddy stumble. graffiti nowadays is also made out of moss… and i also stumbled upon another artsy dirt lover… (the infamous car tag: “wash me” is likely where the inspiration to reverse graffiti arose). if you like these, you are welcome to check what other good stuff i am happily stumbling upon.tags:, ,

4-day work week + 1 day of education

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

here is my the nation’s buddy, thomas blachman, addressing 2 million danes in prime time national live tv, with a powerful message (how friggin cool is that?!?):

we need a national project (implied; not x-factor) = we need to share our love
we need a 4-day work week
we need to meet one day a week to grow and share our real interests

i have heard thomas say this before, and it really is a brilliant idea. in denmark, we can actually afford to educate ourselves, and to continue to do so. take a moment to think about it? what would happen, if we met one day a week, across culture, religion, educational background, income, to unfold, share and perfection our potentials and ideas? if we all grew our human revenue and put it into a big pool of peace, love and understanding? i myself can not come up with a better idea that, in a relatively simple way, would intervene with the status of society from the inside and out, to make it a better one. can you?tags:, ,
