speed factor?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

my first blog (this one!) wasn’t all that easy to make. neither was my second nor third one. however, the combo of wordpress 2.6 + one.com + harvesting on previous efforts made my fourth attempt a piece of cake. it took me a couple of hours to set up monocop.com from scratch (there was a logo only), including picking a theme, fiddling with graphics and contemplating this and that with all the time in the world with my ab fab o. i think that’s pretty cool. judging from all the support forums i’ve been through during the past attempts, its not just a matter of practice. something always goes wrong, right!? well, not anymore… wordpress today is a full-fed cms (the term blogging is so passé, i’ve come to think… worthy web presence is key, who cares about the format?), and there is an open source plugin out there for any weird feature you want! i loooove the world wide web. LOVE IT!

mono bar, copenhagen

anyhow… at least i’ve managed to keep myself busy while awaiting my duoboots… the payment was deducted from my account on the 13th, and the tnt link since then has said that zending zit in afleverroute, which i most certainly hope believe means that the package is on its way safely…

the speed of the web, and all the wonderful things you can do with it in no time makes me terribly impatient though. a former colleague cleverly twitters: i promise to try to be nicer if you try to be smarter. i agree. speed and efficiency count! if my duoboots arrive and fit nicely, i’ll forgive them…tags:, , , ,

23k.dk - inside info on cph

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

back in may i brought 23k.dk to life for the ab fab o. 23k is the name of a hostel located in knabrostræde in the center of copenhagen, managed by rental company hay4you. the website is to serve as an extension of the housing services provided, by recommending various sites and events in denmark’s sweet little capitol our fair city. i have volunteered to get the blog going for a while…

23k - inside information on copenhagen

logo by gytz, theme named fresh apple by 22-year old german jez. i fiddled with the stylesheet and graphics, and added snap shots of external sites, tag cloud, quote rotator, contact form, and image gallery from 23hq.com.

i hope the blog will eventually be of use to hay4you’s guests (and others - feel free!)… feedback is always most welcome.tags:, ,

bpos, man

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

i am proud to introduce: www.bpos.dk - a blog-based website that i have made for mr. lee. it presents a new coaching-based approach to team development, achievable in the course of 3 days of intensive team training. i feel absolutely certain that this course is worth every single krone (danish for dime) and more, and i wish mr. lee great success and loads of fun with this project.

noochi has set up a blog for bpos

bpos.dk is much cooler than my own blog, because it runs on the newest version of wordpress and it rocks! i also really like the hypereal theme. the theme is not only search-optimized, sharing enabled, recognizes returning visitors and more, but was also made by an 18-year old! his name is hans and he lives on mauritius. knowing that an 18-year old can make a beautiful piece of work like that, with such attention to detail, makes me extremely enthusiastic about the future.

i am quite pleased with the result (clean and simple and mr. lee can handle all the updates and loves wordpress like any other sane person!). and i learned how to easily install the blog, which is already coming in handy as i engage in yet another sweet project (…). i also got acquainted to a sweet handwriting generator. and noochi is now link-loved by the first footer of someone else’s site.

i’ve made a moooi imitation

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

have not yet filled up the light bulbs below with ideas. but i at least had a creative outlet and shaded one. it does not quite resemble the original, but it is cool in its own way.
so it does not look like moooi - but it still looks good
first there were big balloons, plaster, cotton thread, ph5 socket, ab fab o and yours truly… and now; there is light.

they will not go into mass production, although i think the flaws are quite fab.tags:,

my employer have a new website today. i may even put a job description on linkedin now. but first… i am off to this particular beach in goa with the ab fab o in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6…
just normal celebration of life. i so deserve it!tags:,

can’t keep ignoring postponing the really boring tough challenging part of building noochi: the software! the backbone platform for getting creative!? [and don’t worry - i have some very neat products in the pipeline] i think that osCommerce is the best choice. it is thoroughly tested and future-proof (although i like zen cart’s name)… i have been looking at templates just to start visualizing what my shop should look like (and it needs to be inordinately competitive in terms of both looks and functionality… if not - what fun will it be?) and i am currently considering these “minimalist” templates as a basis for take-off:

this is clean and simple and soft... but does it have levels of categories or just one big bulk? please ignore that this is a fashion template... it is clean and simple and not showcasing too many things at a time which makes it kind of classy...? not sure if the juicy apple is playing tricks with me? what is that stupid menu doing to the left of it?

a note of appreciation: i am deeply thankful to all the developers, first movers and bloggers who share their code and their thoughts and experiences. i would be utterly lost if starting from scratch! most people would. the world wide web still amazes and excites me - in the same way airplanes and telephones do! I am so thankful to have been born in 1975! i am old enough to truly appreciate the wonders of the web, and young enough to master them figure them out. Hallelujah!tags:, , ,

investment round 1

Friday, September 21st, 2007

i need all kinds of stuff for my noochi project. and since my pc was stolen a few months ago, getting a new one + getting it up and running has been a quite boring step 1. Now, the ab fab o has made a welcome to noochi-music mix, and i want to start distributing it to sweet noochi supporters. as the music mix is very cool, of course it needs to be presented in a cool way as well.

your first noochi present will be in a red sleeve like this i consider myself media savvy, but this is a small project; i need cds (old school, but functional + you can place it casually on your coffee table for coolness), i need labels, i need sleeves. I have ordered everything and once it arrives, i need to figure out how to make fancy, cool, sweet brand value out of it.

consider this a cliff hanger for getting your first gift from noochi. tags:, ,

money in the bank?

Monday, September 10th, 2007

I was chatting with my former colleague Allan (developer with a huge fan club) and we were debating how your first job is like your first boyfriend (in his case girlfriend)… in the sense that all other jobs are compared to the spirit you experienced the first time you felt you were part of something great… He is currently wondering what job to take (from a nice variety of options) and we talked about working independently. Although i have decided to build up this blog, to make it cool, before promoting it, i gave him the link. And would you believe; he said to ask for help if i needed it. That is serious money in the bank! (no, allan, i AM aware that you did not offer to code a shop for me from scratch, but still… ). So listen all and be warned: if you offer your help, i may come back and ask for it! That is kind of the concept of noochi… i want to share it with anyone who cares… and I do need support for this project to materialize.tags:, ,
