6billionothers is the most heart-warming site i’ve seen in a long time (thank you, ab fab o, for sending!). it beats postsecret by far. yann arthus-bertrand has interviewed people from all over the world (while photographing the earth from above), about their thoughts and feelings towards life, love, death, joy, childhood, fears and hopes. do not click the images unless you have at least an hour to spend with these beautiful people of the world…
with no comparison to the site above, as this is a different genre, the wooster collective that celebrates cool street art, excites me. see for example this inflatable dog (i want to experiment with some plastic in my own hood. it so beautifully illustrates that less is more) or go to wooster collective’s site to see more cool and moving works of art.
have not yet filled up the light bulbs below with ideas. but i at least had a creative outlet and shaded one. it does not quite resemble the original, but it is cool in its own way.
first there were big balloons, plaster, cotton thread, ph5 socket, ab fab o and yours truly… and now; there is light.
they will not go into mass production, although i think the flaws are quite fab.tags:moooi, outlet
i was told that many americans who read the secret (aka the law of attraction) sleep with an over size million dollar cheque plastered to the ceiling above their bed. i will keep these next to my bed instead.
first there was mr. eco + basco 5, then it was all newly painted and - apparantly - way too tempting, and now there is this - in the gate to west end, copenhagen.tags:streetart, tags
don’t be naive! said my newly appointed and always brilliant business coach mr. lee. you need to make money with this project. and although this to me has seemed secondary, i am so-so aware that money is the only one of the main reasons i haven’t quit my day job to set my own agenda.
homework: sketch a few business models for how to make a living out of this project.
this made me re-think my first idea… and go into phase 2, which then of course, represents new challenges. i hope my brain will soon explode with a beautiful plan. it is warming up thoroughly. thank you so much, mr. lee. and thank you so much, utterly cool carla, who founded artrebels (and who btw, will rock the friggin world with it!), who was nice enough to meet with me, and share some very valuable insights and concerns (now included in my second take).
when i “handed in” my employers’ new web site, i composed a thorough thank you speech for the company intranet. my boss said she got associations to the oscars. however; saying thank you does not mean one is done. the website i manage still has major flaws, as does my business idea… but it is satisfying to see things grow in the right direction, and in a direction that i myself is responsible for. and so i thank the people that follow my ideas and development debate with me on a most regular basis. thank you! and i thank the people that are good enough to pop up as bright stars of inspiration on a cloudy night. thank you!
money makes my brain the world go ’round, because money is needed for potential to unfold and to become some sort of love of life! not just for me. love. in the becoming.tags:appreciation, business concept, investments, love, mentor, money
here is my the nation’s buddy, thomas blachman, addressing 2 million danes in prime time national live tv, with a powerful message (how friggin cool is that?!?):
we need a national project (implied; not x-factor) = we need to share our love
we need a 4-day work week
we need to meet one day a week to grow and share our real interests
i have heard thomas say this before, and it really is a brilliant idea. in denmark, we can actually afford to educate ourselves, and to continue to do so. take a moment to think about it? what would happen, if we met one day a week, across culture, religion, educational background, income, to unfold, share and perfection our potentials and ideas? if we all grew our human revenue and put it into a big pool of peace, love and understanding? i myself can not come up with a better idea that, in a relatively simple way, would intervene with the status of society from the inside and out, to make it a better one. can you?tags:daydreams, education, speech
trying to figure out why i have a “blog authority” of only 1, although my traffic is steadily increasing (to my liking, i have to admit, although i haven’t worked too hard for it), i came across these 2 well-ranked ladies. both quit their jobs, with no grand scheme for how to make a living, but with knowledge of - among other things - search optimization, copywriting and blogging. i would like to implement some of the great advice both offer. visit for their insights on life, knowledge about blogging and seo, or for their stories. very inspiring.
i hope both will make money while they sleep in a not too far future. i have added these ultimate power chicks to my feed reader so i can follow their processes to succeed with their individual projects.
tipped by my saturday night companionship, rock’n'roll camilla, i became aware of another artsy shop and artists collective: rumkammerat (a sweeter danish word for room mates). It is cool, it is hip, it is sweet… and in some ways it is along the lines of what i had in mind for noochi to begin with. so why doesn’t it rock (the shop part, that is)? 1) you can’t see how to buy and 2) the selection isn’t big enough 3) you can’t really tell how cool the products are… take this lovely piece, for example:
this is made by a rumkammerat named rune drewsen. it is a silk laminated foil on a 6 mm black plastic board. it won some kind of honour in 2007, measures 100×80 centimeters, and is priced DKK 5000,00 (1000$). i immediately liked this piece, but i don’t get enough info to buy it. i would like a picture of the full thing, not just the motive, and i would like a picture of someone standing next to it. i would also appreciate a bit of info on the artist. to write these lines i had to google twice, as there were no links to the artist nor the honour he received. this “honour” isn’t interesting in itself, but it is nice to have some kind of story to a work of art… great art sells itself, but great art with a story to it, sells more. this is, at least, the thesis i would like to put to the test.
rumkammerat also sells street artist kissmama’s sweet plasters on pieces of cardboard for 35 danish kroner = 7$ (also exhibited at ungdomskultur.nu and here). check out his site, it is very sweet!
i will definately make my way to rumkammerat’s exhibition rooms here in copenhagen asap, and get a fuller picture of what they do, and of what’s for sale. will return with an update.
the more artsy web shops i check out, the more i realize that i need to do something else. the common denominator for the shops i’ve recently checked out - artrebels, thrashprint and rumkammerat is that the shop owners produce themselves. this, i believe, is their real drive and motivation. i have to make a living from noochi to be able to unleash it, which requires a much more commercial aspect. yet without compromising the core of the concept; to do good, to promote good people and good products, real talent, good art, and to have fun and full freedom of movement.tags:art, pricing, streetart, webshop
recycle your trash and recycle your government, is one of many good and environmental-friendly advices on storyofstuff.com.
i found the site through toothlesstiger.net - run by henriette weber, who advocates no noise marketing, and encourages businesses to embrace the chaos of personal relationships, instead of relying on traditional ad campaigns.
